The only thing I’m wishing for all of you is dividend payouts so large that they exceed your M-Pesa transaction limits.

Around KES 6 trillion of Kenyan banks’ money is sitting in government bonds. Money is not circulating in the real economy, and SMEs are not getting debt. Everyone keeps talking about alternative financing, but that’s not the problem.

@nduwaflorent @MonsieurUwem There was no demand because interest rates were very high. if government was borrowing at 18%, SMEs have to pay around 20% or more. So most opted not to borrow.

Stanchart results reflect worsening metrics across. Despite the one off pension expense, net interest income and non interest income dropped by double digits. All these trickled down to the bottomline as PAT declined by 38% and ROE dropped to 18% The DPR hike to 95% allowed them to pay the DPS of 31 bob At current prices...Stanchart still has the highest trailing dividend yield of about 9.2% among banking sector stocks despite the 31% drop in DPS I Didn't expect that to be the case for FY25 With interest rates now down and a stable KES, I wonder how most banks will be able to grow their bottomline. Interesting to see how FY26 turns out

Equity Bank is fundamentally cheaper today than it was during the COVID-19 lows. In 2020, you paid 32 bob for a company earning 20bn; today, you’re paying 79 bob for a company earning 75bn. While the price has doubled, the earnings have nearly quadrupled.

KCB Group CEO is confident that the Kenya subsidiary can organically grow by one (lower) tier bank equivalent every year, and there's no need for mergers after exiting NBK.
