I love Swift Dev Containers! It allows me to onboard people on any platform, Windows, Mac or Linux. And with the push of a button, they'll automatically download all development dependencies into a Docker container. It doesn't even dirty their OS with developer tools!

This has been super valuable for Swift Backend development. And we've been using this for our Swift on Android development setup as well. One push of a button, and we can develop Swift on Android from any machine.

@gertig Once you’re storing data off device there’s always a trade-off between recoverability and security. For most users and most use cases, recoverability is the correct default. But the best companies/products give you the option to adjust that dial as you see fit.

Pessimistic view of app security: “recovery” is always the loophole that negates everything else. Only companies that say “If you lose your access you are done” are truly secure.

@gertig The Google login flow is an absolute mess right now. Passkey? Password? 2fa? Prompt in the gmail app? Just awful.

The problem I see with Passkeys so far is that companies are using it as a "faster login" but aren't actually replacing Passwords as an alternate login method. Hopefully this is just a normalization phase because it's not any more secure than it used to be.
