@thomasjmw It was not a "striking victory" it was a tactical vote against net zero. Nothing more, nothing less. The conservatives "achieved" around 1% in Makerfield. Their support throughout the country is pitiful. They will be out of office for a generation

@jakelchambers @KemiBadenoch The Tories won in Aberdeen because of net zero. No other reason. They polled 1% in Makerfield, and their poll ratings have fallen steadily since Badenoch took over. They will not be back in power for a generation and are certainly not trusted

Well… if tonight has proven one thing, it’s that the Conservatives are well and truly kicking. @KemiBadenoch and her team are renewing the party, and people are finally starting to trust us.
Aberdeen South is a big message to the electorate, and will deservedly be met with celebration across the party today, as will the countless other by-election wins tonight.
Congratulations to all Tory candidates.
