WEEKLY IMPACT REPORT: West Bengal Authorities Put on Notice Over Kolkata School Towel Dance, Complaint Filed for Delhi Gang Assault Survivor, Project Sankalp Crosses 100-College Milestone in Bhopal, and Women's Day Address at Central University of Rajasthan WHAT WE DID 1. Complaint on Sexualised Towel Dance Performed by Minor Schoolgirls at a Kolkata School Minor schoolgirls at a private school in Kolkata were made to perform a dance sequence wearing towels, imitating an adult film scene during a school programme. The video went viral on social media and triggered widespread public concern. Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation filed a complaint with NHRC Member Shri Priyank Kanoongo. The Commission took cognisance, issued notices to the District Magistrate, Commissioner of Police, and Principal Secretary, School Education, Government of West Bengal, and directed submission of an Action Taken Report within two weeks. 2. Complaint and Request for Relief for a Seven-Year-Old Survivor of Alleged Gang Sexual Assault in Delhi A seven-year-old girl was allegedly subjected to gang sexual assault in Delhi. Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation ascertained details through field inputs and filed a complaint with NHRC Member Shri Priyank Kanoongo seeking cognisance, an urgent status report from Delhi Police, immediate psychological counselling and rehabilitation support for the victim, and priority disbursement of compensation to the family. 3. Project Sankalp Crosses 100-College Milestone in Bhopal in Five Months Project Sankalp, a campus-level gender safety and awareness initiative of Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation and Network for Justice, has reached over 100 colleges in Bhopal within five months of its launch on 31 July 2025. The programme educates students about gender crimes, forced conversions, and predatory behaviour operating under the guise of ragging and informal campus bonding. The Higher Education Department of Madhya Pradesh issued an official order on 18 November 2025 directing government, aided, and private colleges and universities in Bhopal district to extend cooperation for its implementation. 4. Founder Swati Goel Sharma Invited as Guest of Honour at Women's Day Celebrations, Central University of Rajasthan Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation Founder Swati Goel Sharma was invited as Guest of Honour at the Women's Day celebrations at the Central University of Rajasthan. She interacted with students and faculty, sharing insights from years of grassroots community empowerment work across India. Her address emphasised the responsibility of young Indians to build a society rooted in values and courage. GOAL Protect Children: Challenge media portrayals that sexualise minors and weaken child protection safeguards. Secure Victims: Provide legal escalation to statutory authorities and sustained rehabilitation support so vulnerable victims receive justice and stability. Strengthen Institutions: Use statutory bodies to ensure accountability. IMPACT SO FAR NHRC took cognisance and issued notices to West Bengal authorities in the Kolkata school towel dance case. Action Taken Report directed within two weeks. Complaint filed with NHRC for the seven-year-old alleged gang assault survivor in Delhi. Project Sankalp has reached over 100 colleges in Bhopal within five months, with official support from the Higher Education Department of Madhya Pradesh.
