The MCB urges the UK Government to take urgent diplomatic action to secure British journalist Sami Hamdi’s release from US ICE detention. Press freedom cannot be selective, the Government must defend British citizens and the right to speak truth to power.

Earlier this morning, ICE agents abducted British Muslim journalist and political commentator Sami Hamdi at San Francisco Airport, apparently in response to his vocal criticism of the Israeli government during his ongoing speaking tour. We can confirm that Mr. Hamdi has not been deported and remains in custody. Our attorneys and partners are working to address this injustice. In the meantime, everyone should recognize that arresting a British citizen legally visiting the United States because he dared to criticize a foreign nation's genocide is our government's latest blatant affront to free speech.  Our nation must stop abducting critics of the Israeli government at the behest of unhinged Israel First bigots; this is an Israel First policy, not an America First policy, and it must end.

STATEMENT: In support of the President’s directive to dismantle Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) and counter narco-terrorism in defense of the Homeland, the Secretary of War has directed the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group and embarked carrier air wing to the U.S. Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) area of responsibility (AOR). The anguish in Gaza is absolutely overwhelming and truly heartbreaking. We hope that the measures announced this weekend will ensure that more help is on its way to get to the people of Gaza. But make no mistake — Hamas alone holds the power to end this nightmare. Hamas must free the hostages and prioritize saving the people they govern rather than clinging to power. Qatar hosts Hamas leadership. Use that leverage. The US and its allies need to press Doha to push Hamas toward a deal. The UN and international community must support mechanisms, including GHF, to distribute more aid and alleviate the famine. And, of course, even as Israel seeks to defeat Hamas and free the hostages, it must continue to look for all possible ways to ease the humanitarian crisis and protect innocent lives. End the terror. Release the Hostages. Stop the Suffering.
