If this were like back in the old days when many of the top horses ran back in the Preakness, the horse that I would want to play back is Danon Bourbon and it’s not even close. That horse looks like the most talented horse in the field. It will be fun to follow him going forward.

Well that was a crazy Derby. Golden Tempo really put it all together today. Amazing training job and fantastic ride. Take nothing away from the winner, but would love to see Danon Bourbon stick around for another Triple Crown race. That’s a serious racehorse.

It’s useful to knowa little Japanese! Unfortunately, Netkeiba’s English accounts don’t provide this information. Last out fig was 122 with continuous improvement last fall/winter (this fig is higher than Forever Young’s Japan races). Japanese trainers conquer a layoff like any of ours can in the US. I thought it’d be closer with Knightsbridge but I felt good about his chances.

@gate_podcast I don't understand this. You watched the replay. You can record the time and the beaten lengths. It's a very small leap to estimating a par value (from comparable races) and calculating a basic Beyer-style figure. The value-add to stating a Beyer figure is huge. Why not?
