Multiple surveys have shown that up to 50% of disc golfers have only been playing for 2 or 3 years. Some say this means the population is growing very fast. But it could mean, aside from the covid bump, the population is growing slowly, and we have a high turnover rate. 1/3

I’ve watched several folks catch the dg bug. They can’t get enough. See em out there playing alone, because they love that feeling of getting better. For many, I think the big-improvement period lasts about 2-3 years. After the honeymoon, some play less or quit. 2/3

@ADiscGolfBlog I don’t think you’ll see decline, I more think you’ll see slower growth. The ease of entry into the competitive scene is immensely helpful for keeping players, because when the drive to get better fades the drive to win takes over.

@ADiscGolfBlog The 40% drop in Jomez patreon subscribers is all you need to know about the post COVID correction- but the increased exposure kids are now getting in High Schools across the nation hopefully will help ongoing exposure and more normalization outside the present very niche market

@ADiscGolfBlog I do think that course time vs sport connection is different though. I’m at a pretty low engagement level as far as on course currently but fill a lot of time with DG entertainment and my backyard basket.
