@leftypullguy Because it’s reasonable for Ultiworld to incentivize subscriptions which is how they make money. YouTube revenue alone can’t cover their costs.
Hey USAU what are we even doing here? Having the national semi-final at 9 am, not in a stadium, while other teams can't even watch because they are still finishing consolation games is incredibly lame.
@mblair001@elonmusk America thrived when we had incredibly high corporate tax rates on profits because that incentives reinvestment into research and wages instead of shareholder dividends.
@elonmusk The more you tax the rich the less money they spend on investing into their company by expanding it and hiring more people. You will never, ever, get a job from a poor person unless you work for the government or you are a politician.
@McCallMeBreeze The plan was to have this one at the same place every year. Then that course was destroyed by pine beetles and they are having to rebuild so this was put in its place for a this year.
I don’t think I ‘get’ the ‘Majors’. Seems weird to simply change the name of a tournament and boom, it’s a ‘Major’. Is it by invite only? Do players earn a spot with season performance? This one was just called ‘Ledgstone’ last year right? What makes it a ‘Major’?
@BubblesDillon@DiscGolfProTour If you’ve been watching for years nothing has changed as you would have been watching Jomez and Jomez still exists. Live is behind a very affordable paywall and is even more affordable if you’re a pdga member.
@DiscGolfProTour Such a bummer those of us who have been watching for years now can’t watch without a significant paywall. I will truly miss watching disc golf almost every weekend as my kids grew up.
@HeroDividend As long as you are gentle you actually can wash cast irons with soap and water. Just make sure it’s completely dry after. Modern soap doesn’t mess up the seasoning. Just don’t take a Brillo pad or steak wool to it.
Disc golfers love the concept of "free," and I love them for it. I honestly hope Musk charges Twitter users money for access, so we can go find a public course and leave the Brodies and overpriced plastic peddlers behind.
@socialclubulti Agreed but I also think there needs to be some sort of shift so that the offense can’t just run blindly. D can see the whole play so they should make the right decision and not bid but the offense could also see the whole play but they choose not to in order to get the disc.
@ADiscGolfBlog I do think that course time vs sport connection is different though. I’m at a pretty low engagement level as far as on course currently but fill a lot of time with DG entertainment and my backyard basket.
Multiple surveys have shown that up to 50% of disc golfers have only been playing for 2 or 3 years. Some say this means the population is growing very fast. But it could mean, aside from the covid bump, the population is growing slowly, and we have a high turnover rate. 1/3
@bagelpowered Get the cheapest electric coffee grinder from the store and dedicate it as a spice grinder. Works great for large quantities of any pepper, fennel, coriander, or any other spice or herb that needs to be ground and only costs about $10.
I have been suffering with the same shitty simply organic pepper grinder for 3 years. Does anyone have any cheap, efficient ones you use???? I'm losing my mind I just want large quantities of pepper
@GreenSplatter Yes but hitting an ace that everyone on the card thinks is worth $400 and then having to explain you didn’t buy in is no fun. Definitely haven’t done that myself. Definitely not….
Ace pots are a fool's errand.
Yes, you might eventually hit one, but take into consideration the sum total of all the ace pots you'd previously entered and the ones you'll inevitably enter afterwards, and congrats ...
It was a complicated route, but you've broken even.
@acher_2@keagangustin@being_ulti I guess I categorize differently. To me 3 tiers exist at the regional level. #3 low level teams excited to make regionals #2 teams that always make regionals that could very occasionally pop off to make nationals #1 teams that are always a national threat.
obviously i understand that we play D-III and not as many people know about us or are interested in smaller schools, but it's just frustrating to know that D-I schools get whole writeups and we'll be lucky if they remember to do power rankings
@acher_2@keagangustin@being_ulti Based on those teams records i have a hard time sorting them into that too group. Being from the southeast is categorize them into the Tulane, Emory, FSU mid category. If they played D1 they could go off occasionally but wouldn’t be a constant threat.
@keagangustin@being_ulti I’m definitely not saying the top teams are garbage. More just that they are generally going to be mid regional level D1 teams just missing out on nationals and coverage needs an audience. DIII is an inherently smaller market so why should it get equal coverage?
