John’s screenplay for Daniel Boone is one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. Then there’s his fantastic unproduced Curtis LeMay screenplay (languishing in turnaround). Then there’s his powerful unproduced Genghis Khan screenplay (don’t get me started on that one). The list of brilliant unproduced Milius scripts goes on and on. Some of the greatest screenwriting ever done, written by this one man who no one would deny is one of the best writers of all time, is sitting in drawers unmade by vastly lesser men who control the rights.

@AVARY @AmandaMilius Very unfortunate. Don't the screenwriters get the rights back within two years or so on average?

You'd be surprised what concessions you can get from a studio's legal department if your attorney just asks for it. Mr. Milius should go back to the firm that represented him before and ask them to rep him now on a contingency basis. His attorney should ask the studio for a greenlight or reversion of rights without a lien. If you and your attorney are professional, polite and persistent, you might actually get one or the other. Good luck!
