This is a very silly, childish clickbait title and article.
Los Angeles has become unaffordable, with crazy individuals roaming the streets, potholes and ridges popping our tires, an understaffed police force, an under-equipped fire department, a film and TV production business that is collapsing, and billions of our tax dollars just kind of getting lost in the wind.
I suppose if you just moved to LA last year, you've accepted this as some "normal" state, but anyone who's lived here for more than a minute knows exactly what LA is now.
It's not a "vision," just fact.

The bigger problem is the $25M budget for a film with actual costs of probably $10M, but Matt Damon and Michael Douglas probably took $5M each. That leaves $15M, which was probably padded by the Producer, because his percentage of the proceeds is based on the ingoing budget. As for the P&A - studios never pay labs for making and shipping prints as much as they always claim, especially now that the prints are digital. And they do not pay ad buyers anywhere near what they claim they do, especially now that they do most of their own marketing through a bullpen of 25-year olds sitting in their Marketing or Creative Services department posting/sharing/resharing trailers to make them go viral. It's all creative accounting from the very beginning of the life of a studio film, just in case they need to write off losses. It's the Hollywood version of NGOs.

Back in the DVD era, studios could make smart, mid-budget movies because the home release gave them a second big payday. Then DVDs died. Suddenly a $25M film like Behind the Candelabra needed $100M at the box office just to break even. That math killed off the kind of thoughtful, character-driven stories a lot of us grew up loving.
It’s not some grand conspiracy. It’s cold economics.
This clip actually made me a bit sad for what we’ve lost — those mid-tier movies that felt made for grown-ups. I’ve been on a 90s/early 2000s rewatch kick lately and the difference is striking.
When only massive franchises are safe bets, we all end up with less variety and fewer stories that actually reflect real life.

The fact that is was made using AI tools is irrelevant, because the story is so good (and very relevant!). We're witnessing the birth of a new genre, which I think we'll wind up calling something like "live action animation."
