The ABC News reporters are scratching their heads and wondering why house prices are so astronomically high. Then immediately every single person they interview is an Indian migrant. It’s a real head scratcher guys!
The additional 8.2 million people added to the population since the year 2000 and the million foreign born Indians probably had something to do with it.
I hate how people act like housing is this complex financial investment instrument. It is bloody bricks and mortar and is pretty much run by two factors:
1. How readily available credit is to borrowers.
2. Supply vs Demand
Every single person needs a place to rent or buy for them and their family to exist. This isn’t rocket science. Mass migration has massively outpaced supply of housing (despite Australia having one of the fastest build rates in the world), and the reporters and “economists” will speculate and theorise over nearly everything, except mass migration from the third world.
