MY TOP 20 BATMAN BRONZE AGE STORIES
Thread 🧵
Probably the most underrated Batman era between 1977-1981 it reached a lot of heights but most of it is pretty good
#20 Where Were You on the Night Batman Was Killed?
Batman #291-Batman #294
The first real good rogues team up, their interactions are a lot of fun and the spotlight issues really make Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, and Luthor shine. My only issue with it is a twist near the end.
#19 The Man Who Killed Mlle. Marie!
Detective comics #501-502
Batman goes to France in order to solve an Alfred related mystery were we get a lot of Alfred backstory. I love a Batman out of Gotham story an this is a nice mystery
#18 Moon of the Wolf
Batman #255
Probably one of the coolest Batman comics ever written, if you like the BTAS episode, read this, its even better. It's also Len Wein's debut on Batman and he really sets the noir tone for Batman. Lupus is also a great layered character.
#17 The Riddle of the golden fleece
Detective comics #491
I'm a sucker for Maxie Zeus he is one of the most underrated Batman characters and this story gives an unexpected turn to his character that makes him stand out from most other villains
#16 The little men hall of fame
Batman #287-288
Naturally the Penguin had to be on this list, and this story is really fun it brings the campiness I love Penguin to have and gets his characterization perfectly. He loves to make crime and art-form and this shows that perfectly
#15 The Manikin
Detective comics #506-507
The Manikin is the best one shot Batman villain ever such a tragic thematically sound character this two parter is basically a horror story with Batman in it
