The Blue Security Program welcomed it’s 2026 Maritime Fellows to workshop their research project ideas in Kuala Lumpur this week.

The Maritime Fellows Workshop was a forum to hear and provide feedback on a set of insightful forthcoming papers from the new cohort of Blue Security Maritime Fellows: @HanhHNguyen1, Rholaisa Mamailao, @dharmaagastia, Dang-Dao Nguyen and Gemmo Bautista Fernandez.

@HanhHNguyen1 @dharmaagastia Their research addresses some of the emerging maritime security challenges currently facing Southeast Asia, including land reclamation, grey zone dynamics, subsea cables, local fisherfolk communities, and ports development.

@HanhHNguyen1 @dharmaagastia These projects will provide important contributions to regional knowledge and will be crucial reading on important issues of maritime security in Southeast Asia.

@HanhHNguyen1 @dharmaagastia The discussion and feedback from Cheng-Chwee Kuik, Kai Ostwald, @DrScottEdwards, @becstrating, Mark Manantan, Ph.D. and @DrTLeeBrown were also extremely valuable for sharpening our Fellow’s research projects.
