One day long ago as an Army major, I spent the day escorting Senator Strom Thurmond around the 82nd Airborne Division. (Little known fact: Strom landed on D-Day in a glider with the 82nd; the 82nd Museum has a picture of him on a captured Sonderkraftfahrzeug 2.)
Strom was near 100 years of age at the time I met him.
As the day went on, it was obvious to me that Strom was almost wholly mentally incapacitated and his staff had utter control over everything he did.
(Strom told a female paratrooper, Jumpmaster, combat medic sergeant that she would "Make someone a nice wife some day.")
What Strom was then, Mitch McConnell is now.
There needs to be a law.
