@CodeRed_dev Pixelart sprite/tile optimisation on old game-system is so interesting !

@CodeRed_dev Buy more RAM? I think you mean to say Download some more RAM. Don't let big tech shill you their "cures" while they supress your medicine!
English

@CodeRed_dev Say what you will about Nintendo, even now they are masters at optimization.
English

@CodeRed_dev this peble seen only for 1 second definitely need's 400 polygons
English

@CodeRed_dev Never thought of that bush cloud thing that’s actually genuis
English

@CodeRed_dev Im proud to say
I can still send my game in a zip file over discord without discord nitro
I consider this a massive optimization win
English

@CodeRed_dev I remember watching a video about this old game that would generate most of the textures with code, therefore being very small in size. I can't find it right now, but it was very interesting to learn about it's history
English

@CodeRed_dev To be fair, its not that simple anymore to optimise games. With that said though many companies/devs don't really care at all about optimisation. Not even trying at least.
English

@CodeRed_dev The bush don't save RAM, it saves ROM.
There is this 8KB ROM chip in the cart that has every tile used in the game, so the more you can reuse, the more variety you can bring to the game.

English

@CodeRed_dev That's why I develop on an old laptop. Anything that works here will work everywhere. 😄
English

@CodeRed_dev Weigh less? Sounds like my grandma who thought the computer was heavy cause of how many files are in it.
English

@CodeRed_dev Literally the opposite. Artists bust their asses to optimize, and people call them lazy or bad for every reused or low-poly asset.
English

@CodeRed_dev Kickstarter/Early Access flood of Unity indies been like this- ugly games requiring beefy PCs and that wasn't certain to work either.
Oh and remember when they leaked Elden Ring requirements (back cover?) and nobody believed that it would take less than 100gb (it was 60?)...
English

@CodeRed_dev I do love that VR forces a new wave of performance optimalisation
English

@CodeRed_dev I once had an issue where the memory leak was caused by the game engine 😭
English

@CodeRed_dev Don’t get to blame the user’s potato on mobile either. Why I need to switch to PC 😁
English

@CodeRed_dev reminds me of how the loading circle animation that appears during startup or shutdown isn't actually an animation. It's a special font that displays letters as a different part of the "animation" which is easier for the computer to load in as it's just text, not a moving image
English

@CodeRed_dev I wouldn´t consider this 100% accurate, because if you look at developers like Sierra Games or Origin Systems, there are hyped to use new technology and making games for it.
English

@CodeRed_dev This whenever I think about Ark devs and their disrespect for storage.
