The same curse that happens with Diablo builds now. When Diablo 1 and 2 first came out, there were no guides or builds or Korean/Chinese sweats posting their Absolute-Calculated-Best-DPS-Ever-No-Thought-Required Builds for midwit/dimwits and talentless hacks. Diablo 1 and 2 was more fun when people tested everything, when everything was unknown, when Internet Culture hadn't advanced enough to make Builds/expectations for finding builds easier and more readily expected in a Supply/Demand chain. People just wait for smarter people to post their builds online for them to copy-paste it then act like it's all theirs when they wanna show off.

@AcademicAgent_X ...if you can find those games on Steam outside of clones of -deck builders -roguelikes -2D platformers -boomer shooter that are faster than 99.99% FPP games from the past diving into store is waste of time, Steam recommendations sorta works you need good sources finding them

If you leave behind AAA slop it is actually one of the most exciting times to be a gamer in history, Steam has created a bonanza of truly exceptional indie games.

I've been replaying Clive Barker's Undying, partly to get screenshots for level design references, and I love the way it looks. One of the best uses of the OG Unreal engine. Really captures the vibe of exploring the mountainous regions of the UK/Ireland.

Fallout's the The Master is brilliant because he provides so many player choices for conflict and engagement. That, and he's actually written with a great background - which lord forbid, does dip into some aspects of humour and madness. He's an end boss you can literally talk into killing himself - or joining. He's indicative of an actual design palette we never see in any of the Bethesda Fallout games. Grotesque, bizarre and compelling. What Fallout should actually be.
