Sheep In Stitches
Sheep In Stitches@sheepinstitches·
Started lambing today. This ewe was carrying triplets but 2 were dead, tiny and rotten. Nearly 40 ewes were scanned with rotten lambs in them, probably because someone let their dog chase the flock when they were in mid pregnancy. One irresponsible action, up to 80 dead lambs.

@RJO5142 Yes, a dog doesn't have to bite to cause harm. We avoid using our sheepdogs as much as possible when the ewes are newly pregnant as it's such a vulnerable time.

@TracyGalla1990 @RJO5142 The difference is that my dogs are trained to work with sheep, under control. The flock know us and our dogs, where we are moving them and they understand our intention. This is not the same as a dog blasting around like a loose canon, biting, barking, chasing and cornering them.

@TracyGalla1990 @RJO5142 I am, but I'd rather dog owners didn't act illegally, took responsibility for their dogs and ended a totally preventable problem overnight. I think we'll have to agree to differ here.

@sheepinstitches @TracyGalla1990 @RJO5142 You’re getting a lot of trolls who don’t know anything about sheep or farms. Ignore them. You don’t deserve this rubbish. You’ve got enough problems. I hope the new laws about dogs in the countryside will work for you.
