@DavidSpinks What are the core features they should have nailed?
English

@DavidSpinks I spoke to them about Late Checkout being the innovation agency to help here. They basically were like:
"We're ok with what LinkedIn Groups is"
English

@DavidSpinks agree.
think there is still time for them to do something orrrr not?
English

@DavidSpinks what is the best place for professional communities now?
English

@DavidSpinks I manage a group of over 10k and wish for more moderation tooling and ways to foster more networking opportunities.
English

@DavidSpinks Only thing good about Facebook is the groups but I’d 100% rather be on LinkedIn
English

@DavidSpinks It's indeed a shame. I don't use Facebook and most communities are there.

Agree with you! some ideas…if LinkedIn were to introduce monetization options for moderators, it could potentially incentivize more dedicated moderation and increase the quality of groups. Here are some potential methods for moderator monetization:
1Premium Groups: LinkedIn could introduce a feature where group owners or moderators can charge a subscription fee for access to premium groups that offer exclusive content, discussions, webinars, networking opportunities, etc. LinkedIn would then take a small percentage of these subscription fees as part of their business model.
2Paid Events/Webinars: Moderators could be allowed to host paid events or webinars within the group. This would provide a direct method for monetization and help attract high-quality speakers and content.
3Sponsored Posts/Ads: LinkedIn could allow moderators to accept sponsored posts or ads in their groups. This would require careful management to ensure the integrity and relevance of the content.
4Tip Jar/Donations: LinkedIn could introduce a "tip jar" feature where members can make donations to support the moderators. This could work on a voluntary basis, allowing members to show appreciation for the work moderators do.
5Paid Promotions: Similar to sponsored posts, moderators could also monetize their groups by accepting payments to promote other LinkedIn members, companies, or products. Again, this needs to be handled sensitively to maintain trust within the group.
6Partnerships/Affiliates: Moderators could form partnerships with businesses relevant to their groups. They could, for instance, advertise the business's products or services in the group and receive a commission for any conversions that result.
7Premium Features: LinkedIn could offer premium features within groups, such as advanced analytics, the ability to pin more posts, or priority support, which moderators could purchase to enhance the group experience.

@DavidSpinks Agreed! Also realized this and started to work on an app called @floor_app that has an emphasis on being community driven and goal oriented (also got tired of "hiring" and "open to work" being the only publicly displayed goals on people's profiles so added a few more)
English

@DavidSpinks I talk about that a lot. They were there before FB and just let them languish to the point of irrelevance.
English

@DavidSpinks I think anonymous communities would have helped them. They had the users and the users.
But LinkedIn didn't build that.
Now blind / Fishbowl app are in it.
English

@DavidSpinks I think the attention in small communities is being cut between slack, Facebook group, telegram, WhatsApp group, discord and teams. They definitely missed the opportunity to take over the market.
English

@DavidSpinks @robertoblake There are lots of ways to Improve that Platform
One is Inbuilt Payment mode

English

@DavidSpinks Impossible to optimize for signal to noise ratio for groups in large networks. It all goes to shit!
English

@DavidSpinks My eyes are glued to comment section, great suggestions in here
English

@DavidSpinks @DavidSpinks Very interesting insight here!
Do you @trygroubs can potentially be that community plug-in for professional communities?
English

@DavidSpinks I get most of my engagement on LinkedIn through groups. They are a great way to target your content.
