@TurnerNovak Time could've been spent trying to figure out how optimize the business in a way that doesn't require Venture Capital to grow

@TTrimoreau False dichotomy: people using but refusing to pay.

I’m telling you right now someone could build a $1B company that’s a full video editor that connects to codex, Claude code and cursor etc. A super app native video editor. Don’t even build the standalone app with an ai agent side panel. Waste of time. Just make it a plugin that works inside codex.

@ColinGardiner @ColinGardiner , If founders actually had Tier 1 VCs leading their round, why would they want you on their cap table ? What value can you provide that A16Z or Sequoia can't sir ?
English

And I find myself having to repeat this…
Founders, don't tell people you have a Tier 1 VC lead when you don't.
Every time I see this in a teaser email, they eventually tell me who it is, and it's not Sequoia, A16Z, etc.
You lose credibility immediately.
Just say who your lead is and let your business speak for itself.

@julianweisser @eoghan Is there at least 1 exception to this idea ?
English

If you talk to 100 seed funds and they won’t invest in your company you’re actually wrong.
Was reminded of this conversation I had with @eoghan.

30 partners already passed on the same deck and the founder is still asking for warm intros. intro 31 isn't going to read it any differently than intro 30 did. "we just need more intros" gets thrown around like a fundraising strategy. it isn't. it's what you say when you don't want to look at why the first 30 didn't bite. the work nobody wants to do at month 4 of a stalled raise is rewriting the pitch. asking for another intro feels productive and costs nothing. rewriting the pitch is the work that actually moves the round, and it's the work most founders avoid until month 6.

@sama Native video/audio context ingestion would be huge!
Give GPT a URL or video, have it extract + understand the transcript/script, then keep the conversation going with that context.
We built a solution for exactly this.
Acquire us and let’s make it native 😏

@geoffreywoo As I've said before, Venture Capital is the only profession in which a 95% error rate is the norm.
