“Have you even read Marx?” A. Yes. B. Even if I hadn’t, the idea that someone has to read thousands of pages of bullshit before they’re allowed to determine it’s bullshit is retarded. If I write a 3,000-page book explaining why slamming your dick in a car door cures cancer, nobody is obligated to read the whole thing to conclude I’m a fucking moron.

@Fat_Electrician The Communist Manifesto is like 50 pages. If you don't read all of it, you probably aren't qualified to talk about all of it.

@jpvanhoy The amount of you that think I’m talking about the manifesto and not his actual main work Das Kapital just proves none of you know what the fuck you’re talking about.

@Fat_Electrician I don't care if it IS 5,280 pages, I still disagree that if you haven't read it, you're at least much less likely to be able to argue about it intelligently than if you had. Sounds to me like you just have an emotional reaction to communism.

Eeyore was the cheerful one in the family.
No matter the hype, if you look at two systems objectively and one causes death and poverty and the other causes prosperity, you don't need to read the book. You just look at the results. Capitalism has lifted more people out of poverty than any other system, and communism has murdered more than any other system.

My point was if you don't read the book, you can't pass judgement ON THE BOOK. The original statement is "I don't have to read thousands of pages of bullshit to determine it's bullshit" Yes, yes you do, otherwise you're simply GUESSING it's bullshit. This is not: 1. An endorsement of communism 2. A statement that you can't have an opinion ABOUT communism from OTHER sources of knowledge. It's a statement about "do you have to know something before you can judge something". And that answer is yes. I wish I didn't already understand why this is such a hard concept for people to understand.
