🚨 A new Indian app is trying to capture Watsapp market. 'Arattai', from Zoho has recorded daily signups from 3,000 to 350,000 in just 3 days. Will it break the western monopoly and succeed?

@IndianTechGuide Unless Arattai offers some unique features that WhatsApp lacks, people won't abandon WhatsApp to shift here. Company needs to come up with something disruptive, like TikTok did with short videos. P.S. Just a suggestion, nothing against Arattai

@IndianTechGuide Technologies don't become world class based on hyper nationalism and jingoism, but only based on unique features. I am all for an Indian brand, but tell me one feature of Arattai that's powerful enough to dethrone WhatsApp globally. Remember Koo? Kimbho? #ArattaiApp #whatsapp

What’s driving the surge? •Government endorsement and the “Made in India” / Swadeshi narrative have given it massive visibility. •Zoho’s leadership says they’re scrambling to scale infrastructure to keep up with the demand. •Feature-wise: Arattai supports messaging, group chat, voice & video calls, file sharing, stories, and multiple-device support. •One gap: texts aren’t yet end-to-end encrypted (calls are). That’s a potential sticking point for privacy-aware users. Will it break the Western monopoly? It might — but it’s a steep climb. Here’s where it could win (or lose): Strengths: •Local trust & governmental support give it a credibility boost in India. •If they can execute well on reliability, scalability, and privacy, users may be open to switching. •Zoho’s private ownership gives it breathing room to wait for long-term wins without quarterly pressures.

@IndianTechGuide You can drive the sign ups by nationalist agenda but the same folks who are driving this won’t use the app 2 weeks down the line 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@IndianTechGuide A state-sponsored surge for a half-baked app.They scream Made in India but serve a product with failing servers and call glitches.The biggest joke?This privacy-first app,pushed by ministers,doesn't even have end-to-end encryption for Chats yet. It's a data security nightmare.

@IndianTechGuide Saw a post that asked what unique feature does @Arattai have that separates it from Whatsapp. Option to have Online meetings with recording options. I don’t think WhatsApp has a record option for meeting.

@IndianTechGuide People please start using indigenous apps. The emotions shouldn't be like Asia Cup. First day, many people boycotted it but started watching from the 2nd match. The real problem is that our emotions are temporary. Please don't get swayed away by such emotions.

@IndianTechGuide Hopefully, this doesn’t go the Koo way. It got publicity for many days, was widely downloaded but rarely used, and ultimately Koo had to shut down. While Zoho has the financial strength to sustain, it remains to be seen how it performs in the future.

@IndianTechGuide Be for real. Same happened with Koo. If there is nothing that sets it apart feature wise, these numbers will fall in days. Nationalism card can only give you initial boost, it won't be able to retain users if it's not good enough.

@IndianTechGuide Again, India copies everything from the west and destroys western society. US government should realize, India is Anti West and take action to protect our Interests. India is never an ally of west. India is the enemy of the west.

For any app to be successful, you need one of two things: either a democracy like the USA, where freedom of speech is a fundamental right, or a system like China, where the government controls everything. We have neither. Here, social media only means strangeness, division, and constant criticism. If I criticize you, you can just ask Zoho for my porn history and get it in two minutes over email. First fix your fucking Constitution.

@IndianTechGuide I downloaded Arattai on Indus App Store because I want to shift to Indian App Store. But then I can't use arratai because it asks me to download latest update from Google Play Store. I want both Indus App Store and Indian apps developed by Indians for Indians. Solve it😇👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

@IndianTechGuide Arattai’s growth spurt is impressive - like a local chai stall suddenly serving Starbucks crowds. But breaking WhatsApp’s grip? But WhatsApp isn’t a villain you defeat in the first act-it’s the final boss with everyone’s family group chats hostage.
