A few hours ago, the eye of Super Typhoon #Sinlaku passed over the island of Saipan (CNMI). A @wunderground PWS station on the island reported pressure data from the eye of the storm, with a minimum pressure of 917 mbar (bias-corrected) being reported at 1420Z!

@wunderground While the minimum pressure reported was 927.87 mbar, comparison of the PWS's data with that of older METARs from the Saipan Intl Airport (which stopped reporting pressure after a report of 941.8 mbar at 1054Z) indicated a high bias of 10 to 12 mbar. Adjusting for this yields an

@JavaHurricane @wunderground That makes sense considering a formal non standard double estimate I had, one with data at 925mb regression which was eyeballing values and the second p/w was low 920s based on intensity at peak intensity and the discontinuity in returning pressures. Very much like Katrina 2005.
