North Carolina Highway Patrol Officer Price draws his gun on a 14 year old girl calling her dad, because her mom was being arrested as a result of a traffic stop for an alleged seatbelt violation. Things can escalate fast folks, be safe.

@LPofDelaware If in fact, the only reason for the stop was a seatbelt as claimed, the proper way for any officer in any state to handle that: “Miss, please put your seatbelt on and have a nice day.” Or simply not stopping her at all. Anything else is an authoritarian power trip.

@LPofDelaware Kids aren't even kids anymore! It doesn't matter how old you are. That officer had no one watching his six! If you do what an officer asks they leave their gun holstered 100% of the time!

@LPofDelaware Sixty-four officers were shot and killed in the line of duty in 2022, But tell me again how this officer was overreacting to someone resisting arrest and a second person coming around from the back of the vehicle.

@LPofDelaware In the name of humanity I hope this guy is terminated with extreme prejudice. All of this over a seat belt? Pointing a weapon at an unarmed kid? Allowing this guy to even be a mall cop should be a federal crime.

@LPofDelaware She was approaching him from the side while he was already occupied with someone openly resisting. If it was your life and the responsibility of for the lives of innocents if they get your weapon on the line you judging wouldn't be so easy.

@LPofDelaware Seat belt laws are used by cities, counties, and state governments as a REVENUE enhancement program. Just a way to pay salaries and take your money without calling it a tax.

@LPofDelaware Never resist arrest! If you are innocent, you will be set free. Resisting causes suspicion and is a threat to the Officer.

@LPofDelaware The officer is by himself. He must protect himself. I don’t care how old the girl is. She shouldn’t be walking up on him while he is doing his job. He doesn’t know what she is going to do or if she has a weapon. #StopResistingArrest and you wouldn’t have to worry! 🙄

@LPofDelaware I don’t know man! I was pulled over without a seatbelt and a valid license more than once. The difference is, I was respectful to the officer and I go out of my way to show that I’m not a threat. I got off with a warning every time!

@LPofDelaware People are often taken to jail for driving without a license in NC…which she was doing…and not wearing a seatbelt. Real smart. 🤦🏼‍♂️ He didn’t know if the teen had a weapon and was going to attack him. If the mom had complied with orders the situation wouldn’t have happened. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@LPofDelaware I’ve been pulled over police several times and the first rule is respect the officer and listen to what he/she tells you and more than likely you can settle things. Ticket court what ever… freaking deal with it

@LPofDelaware Many cops take things too far but from what I see here, the woman is wrong. You’re driving a vehicle, you absolutely do have to provide ID unless you’re on private property. She escalated because she thought she was in charge. …unless there’s more, it’s on her.

@LPofDelaware Another one of those "bad apples" in uniform. Was probably bullied in high school, now feels some power in uniform, which is exactly why he joined the police in the first place. We just fight the police state.

@LPofDelaware Sure, it’s safer to be compliant, but it’s also ridiculous that so many people are subjected to this kind of treatment. We should demand a higher standard of service.

@LPofDelaware When a LEO tells you to get out of your vehicle, do it. If they tell you to put your hands behind your back, do it. This woman is saying she didn’t do anything wrong. Guess what. That’s what most people being arrested say so don’t believe it when anyone being arrested says so.

@LPofDelaware Why don't the states pass a law that when you are pulled over and asked to produce identification, you have to SHOW your ID. I've seen enough harassment of police officers, with people arguing they don't have to produce it. It always escalates into this type of situation. UGH🙄

@LPofDelaware Rare time I see one of these videos and think the cop might be in the right. The mom looked very noncompliant, but we didn’t see the first part of the interaction. The girl should not have left the vehicle. The cop had no idea what her intentions were so he pulled his gun.

@LPofDelaware I am going to assume that he pulled his weapon because he saw a possible threat in his peripheral vision. Difficult to draw any real conclusions from this video despite what appears to be a less than optimal way to handle the situation.

@LPofDelaware Clearly not obeying an officer's lawful orders. He has cause for the stop: no seat belt. In North Carolina "A person driving a motor vehicle must provide his or her license to an officer upon request." Also, an officer may order any or all vehicle’s occupants out of the vehicle.

@LPofDelaware Stay calm, respectfully do as your told, get your written ticket & deal with it in court. In court, show your drivers license & deal with no seatbelt issue. She obviously escalated this with her mouth & emotions. She was resisting. This could have ended badly.
