British beef & milk ads backing UK farmers have been BANNED by the watchdog after eco campaigner Chris Packham complains The AHDB’s “Let’s Eat Balanced” campaign ran TV adverts claiming British milk has a carbon footprint a third lower than the global average and British beef half the global average. Eco-campaigner Chris Packham lodged a formal complaint, calling the claims misleading “greenwashing” and “reckless” during the climate crisis. After a 14-month investigation the Advertising Standards Authority upheld the complaint, ruling the environmental superiority claims could not be substantiated using full lifecycle assessments. The two adverts, which aired between September 2024 and February 2025, have now been pulled from TV. Farmer-funded AHDB says it will relaunch the campaign this autumn with a revised focus on nutrition and British farming standards. Thoughts?
