When it comes to making games, I’m not interested in being innovative- I want to be renovative. So many good things buried in the trappings of their time, and so many innovations taking away what made those things cool. I prefer going back to the basics and cleaning it up.

There are so many submission forms that require you to answer "What makes your game innovate in your genre" and I always fight responding with "Bitch I just wanna make something fun with proven mechanics"

@Programancer Could not agree more. The distraction of innovation and novelty has resulted in so much pointless forgettable junk.

@Programancer Nothing is ever innovative. Every game rehashes the aesthetic and gameplay of a previous one. Mecha is a Hide & Seek game - can't get more renovative than that. Any claim of originality or creation is arrogant, deluded and ignorant. Humans simply rearrange pre-existing paterns.

@Programancer 100% the more I play new retro the more I think “this plays like how I remember old games playing” if that makes sense

@Programancer way too many indie games focus on offering something new that ends up messing what wasn't broken
