[Thread] 1/ Today, Damascus witnessed successive explosions resulting from several explosive devices, according to local sources. Initial information indicated that one of the explosions occurred in an area near the route of French President Emmanuel Macron.

2/ Syrian television reported 18 people were injured, including four members of Internal Security Rorces. Élysée Palace confirmed that French President Emmanuel Macron did not hear any explosions while heading to the People's Palace to meet Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

3/ The two successive explosions were reported by @syriahr, one near the Ministry of Tourism, and another near the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus, explaining that one resulted from an explosive device planted in a vehicle, and another place in a garbage can.

4/ These attacks took place concurrently with President Macron's visit to Damascus, the first visit by a leader of a major EU country to Syria since Ahmed al-Sharaa assumed power late in 2024, following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad.
