Full statements of SDF Commander-in-Chief, General Mazloum Abdî, in an interview with Al-Arabiya: -Al-Julani statements are positive -We are capable of downing large Turkish drones. -I discussed with Masoud Barzani ways to stop Turkish attacks -Our stance toward the new Syrian administration will be determined by its actions, not its words. -Iran has been an obstacle to resolving the Kurdish issue. -We have not carried out attacks against Turkey. -Turkey has clear ambitions in Syria and seeks to expand into northeastern Syria. -Syrians are returning to their areas, but in our regions, they are displaced from their cities. -The areas targeted by Turkey are at risk of displacing their residents. -Kobani is Turkey’s primary target. -We want to integrate into the Syrian army, not hand over our weapons. -We want to participate in the Syrian Army of the Future, not dissolve our forces. -The SDF will be a significant asset for the new Syrian army. -The SDF has expertise through coordination with the International Coalition to combat ISIS. -We were not invited to the meeting between Al-Julani and the military factions. -We are in contact with Al-Julani, and a military committee will be formed to integrate the SDF into the Syrian Ministry of Defense. -We proposed forming a committee to merge military forces and integrate them with the Ministry of Defense. -The outcomes of Al-Julani meeting with the factions do not concern us because we were not part of it. -The Kurdish people in Syria are deprived of their rights, and many are denied Syrian citizenship. There were projects by the regime in the 1960s that oppressed the Kurds. -Kurdish rights must be safeguarded in the Syrian constitution. -We agree with the proposal to change the name of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Syrian Republic. -We have approximately 250,000 personnel, including employees and fighters. -We do not seek to replicate the experience of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. -Al-Julani spoke to me in Kurdish, while Bashar al-Assad has ruled Syria for decades without uttering a word in Kurdish. -The American presence is a facilitating factor for bridging viewpoints in Syria, and we support the continued presence of U.S. forces in Syria. -The stance of the previous Trump administration was positive, and we requested that it enforce sanctions on Turkey. -The Americans are capable of resolving the crisis with Turkey. -We discussed all political, economic, and military aspects with US Commander Kurilla. -The U.S. presence in the Middle East has become more essential, and America supports our dialogue with Al-Julani. -The SDF was the spearhead in combating ISIS. -The U.S. will increase its focus on Syria in the coming phase. - We expect Trump to establish peace in northeastern Syria. -American mediation will continue, and we are capable of resolving the crisis in northern and eastern Syria. -Civil society organizations have documented Turkish violations in northeastern Syria, which is a first step toward condemning them in international forums. We have irrefutable evidence. -Turkey has officially declared that it will target all infrastructure in northern and eastern Syria. -Bashar al-Assad was stubborn and insisted on a military solution. -It is time for Erdogan to abandon the policy of violence and turn to reason and peace. -Leader Öcalan extended his hand for peace, and Erdogan must seize this historic opportunity. -In the coming days, there will be a new meeting with Al-Julani.
