I love Hermes. But codex is the only piece of software that turns my entire machine into a simple chat. You have any idea how liberating it is to just whip out a phone, pay all my bills, follow up on emails, get api keys, setup whole servers, operate my discord, slack, other apps, deal with OTP - all while I’m taking a stroll in the park. There’s a lot I wish codex did better, but what it can do, it does the best.

@ScriptedAlchemy Running codex as a full‑machine chat feels like a personal ops assistant. How do you keep session context tidy across devices?

@ScriptedAlchemy that's not about hermes being nice, that's about the power of interfaces and how a well-designed one can turn complexity into accessibility. codex is more than just a chat interface, it's a tool for simplifying your relationship with technology.

@ScriptedAlchemy I honestly have never found any use for agents like Hermes or openclaw If I want to be productive, the codex app is so much better followed closely by the other dev centered open source harnesses

@ScriptedAlchemy That combo is so good. I got hermes/codex to write a plugin for Zulip. This gives a chat app with categories (ie, projects), and topics that you can start, chat, and mark as complete. Much easier to keep track of multiple chains of thought.

I haven’t felt the need to use Hermes or OpenClaw so far, I haven’t even tried installing them. Codex is already saving me so much time that I feel I’ve only scratched the surface of what’s possible. There’s still a lot left to learn and fully utilize before I start looking at additional tools.

@ScriptedAlchemy I agree! My interface to the online world is either Codex or Claude Code these days.

@ScriptedAlchemy Couldn't agree more. Hermes and OpenClaw will always have a special place in my heart just for the incredible first time experience of an Agent truly feeling like it's yours. But Codex is so reliable and powerful, yet elegantly simple too. The best agent orchestration = chat.

@ScriptedAlchemy I wanted to do similar with claude but claude remote control sucked so bad that I ended up building my own tool LoL. This is more dev focus though than general assistant. supermux.dev

@ScriptedAlchemy They nailed it with Codex. Kept it simple, and it's what I recommend to folks getting started with AI. I still love my Hermes setup but it is not as easy to maintain.
