New: The AI exec. order was postponed because David Sacks called Trump this morning and argued that having the federal government review models before their public release would slow down innovation and harm the U.S. in its AI race with China. @ShakeelHashim @michhuan Tbf he’s not wrong, it would almost certainly slow progress. Trump is extremely sensitive to losing to China in AI, even on appearances. Not convinced the Executive is where this needs to happen anyway - predeployment safety needs a more serious approach.

@ShakeelHashim They wanted to test how models respond to political questions before they’re released to the public to ensure that AI models reinforce their narratives instead of offer a rational and data driven analysis. Sacks fucked it for them that’s why there’s a backlash. Trump doesn’t care
