#India just launched its first #hydrogen-powered passenger train today! 🚂 PM Shri @narendramodi flagged it off on the Jind–Sonipat route in Haryana. It is major milestone for the #nation and a proud moment. Here’s what actually happened + why it still matters 👇

2/4 India’s train highlights: • 10-coach trainset (2 power cars + 8 coaches) • 2,400 kW total power — one of the longest & most powerful hydrogen trains on broad gauge • Fully designed & built in India (RDSO + ICF Chennai) • Zero emissions — only water vapour as byproduct • Runs ~356 km daily on a single refuel A strong step toward green mobility on routes where full electrification is challenging.

3/4 The world’s first hydrogen passenger train was Germany’s Alstom Coradia iLint, which entered commercial service in 2018. Countries like Japan, China, and the US have also developed hydrogen trains since then. India has now joined this select group with a bigger, more powerful train tailored for our network.

4/4 This is a solid example of Atmanirbhar innovation meeting the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Hydrogen trains won’t replace electrification everywhere, but they’re a smart solution for specific routes. Proud to see India pushing clean rail tech forward. What’s your take — should we scale hydrogen trains faster on heritage routes? Comment below👇 #HydrogenTrain #IndianRailways #GreenEnergy #AtmanirbharBharat #CleanMo
