A highly advanced race could live in our solar system, surrounding or within it, and we'd never know. Thinking of building a ship to come here? I looked at this in detail and saw the patents were abandoned, but there is more to the story. To expand on what the good Dr in this thread said to an inquiry about that -- This guy, the John St. Clair he is actually blocking others from monetizing the patent applications he has done. He, John won't make any money now or later -- his actions have made it to where his ideas permanently belong to humanity -- not him or some large corporation. So, he has filed these applications (more than the one in question) and paid the fees $$ to do that. Then he has abandoned them after the application is published (typically months to a year later). This puts his idea(s) in the public domain and someone else can't use the idea for their own gain. It's open to the public now -- permanently. I was not familiar with the guy nor really the nuance of what he was doing although I am familiar with patents. Whether his ideas are good ones I can't evaluate, and the passage of time will tell us if they were/are actually valid, but he spent time and money to put those ideas in the public domain -- my hat's off to him for that. He's in good company such as Nikola Tesla who released several of his AC motor patents into the public domain so others could build upon them.
