I don't understand this strategy. If Iran is collapsing, why continue the war? If Iran has been decimated, why is Hormuz still closed? If they have no ability to coordinate, how were they able to launch an immediate retaliation following the South Pars and Natanz attacks?

🚨🚨🚨 I have supported Trump since day one. Trump is literally threatening massive war crimes against a country that he started a war with. I believe that this is probably an impeachable offense, or even could invoke Article 25. I'm not talking about the baseless impeachments the Democrats hit him with. I mean legitimate impeachments. This is not a limited operation, so Trump also declared war without the approval of Congress, which he has had plenty of time to try to obtain. Another impeachable offense. It takes a special level of unhinged to make such a statement as Trump did today. This seems like an act of desperation. He knows that he has opened Pandora's box.

Trump is blinded by his ego. He sees nothing of the real world. He thinks others see him as he seems himself - a strong smart genius with great intellect. He’s absolutely and completely lost when reality pushes back against him. He’s has no playbook. He’ll go until something makes him stop. Personal insight is not on the menu.

Does Trump really not grasp that (1) There's 0% chance Iran will open the strait in response to this threat; (2) There's 100% chance that if he follows through on his threat Iran will try to escalate along the same dimension? This man is getting scarier and scarier.

At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury. This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system. So far, the Trump Administration has been working to bring around 440 million additional barrels of oil to the global market, undercutting Iran’s ability to leverage its disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump’s pro-energy agenda has driven U.S. oil and gas production to record levels, strengthening energy security and lowering fuel costs. Any short-term disruption now will ultimately translate into longer-term economic gains for Americans – because there is no prosperity without security.
