SV culture, like western culture, has many unspoken norms that make it work - standards for truth, a spirit of co-operation, celebration of ambition, the importance of technical leadership etc.
These values are just as important as capital, talent, upstream educational institutions etc, but are often overlooked or taken for granted.
Those who attack these norms from the outside (while often claiming to be insiders) miss that these norms don’t just arise spontaneously; if we destroy them we destroy our ability to build new things, which is the source of so much human flourishing and progress.
