@3D_Fuel @DIYMaker_Johan I think we are saying the same thing. Once the other product goes out of stock as well, if the price of the component is still the increased $5, then to make more of that product you will have to raise the price of that product as well. But thank you for the response and example.

If I may be honest, I'm a bit disappointed in this. I mean, why? €1800 is already expensive. You need to win people over, not turn them to other brands, right? 🤔😅 Also, assuming it's more or less the same in euros, then the EU website 3DO was kinda right.. (Though not €250)

That's not really correct, though. Here's an example: I buy a component for $4 3 months ago that goes into a $10 product. I produce 1000 units to my inventory at that price point. Overall, I have a COGS of $3,000, or 30%. Now let's say I have another product that has the same $10 selling price, and a similar $3 component. But I'm completely sold out of this product and can't sell more until I make more. Now that $3 component's price goes up to $5. I still have that earlier finished product fully in stock (the one where I bought the $3 component for $3). But customers want the product I'm out of stock on, and now if I produce more, it will have a COGS of $5/unit. For my business to be viable, I need to keep my COGS at 30%. In order to sell this second product and maintain the margin, I need to sell it at $16.67/unit instead of $10. Prusa seems to be approaching this in the most clear way: rather than raising pricing on EVERYTHING, they're passing along the increased costs on just the products experiencing the cost increase the most directly. The hope, of course, is that these are just short-term increases to those components of production and they'll be able to bring the prices on the finished products back down.

@3D_Fuel @DIYMaker_Johan If they are waiting to sell existing inventory before raising prices, that is a good pro consumer thing to do, but that would mean that the price increase for other printers and filaments will be equally as high. So 3D printing is not in a good spot it seems at the moment.

@loyalmoses And the vast majority of it is from clothing, not water bottles or 3D printing. Just look at your dryer's lint trap for more evidence of this. And that's what REMAINED after the wash cycle and it drained into the water supply ☠️

I promise you 3D printing will take some of the blame! Filament will eventually be restricted.

@2GregEl @DIYMaker_Johan It's likely because they don't have an inventory of CORE One L's built up from pre-Iran-war input costs. So the true COGS (assuming FIFO cost-allocation) of each new unit sale of the One L is higher than the One+

@DIYMaker_Johan Everything will be more expensive. Prepare for filaments to increase in price as well. What I don't understand is why are they not splitting the blow to their products (increase by lesser amounts the CORE One+ and filaments) and just kill their newest flagship printer first...

@ZombieHedgehog_ @3D_Fuel That sounds kind of awesome. I haven’t read up on the machine, but I wonder what the process is to keep colors contamination from happening between different color batches.

Is anyone without free access to raw pellets actually interested in this? Or does everyone really like various shades of brown filament?

@NathanBuilds We've already been advised of resin price increases starting April 1. But have not yet been told how MUCH they wil be going up. Transportation costs are big factors in this, too
