@GW49221300 @cityoftoronto Speak for yourself, some of us choose to be environmental and health-conscious. I only use my bike for quick transit downtown, not for fun, and I've ridden 15,000km in 10 years. No diabetes, high blood pressure, etc for me ;D

Drivers, please take extra care when driving around vulnerable road users such as cyclists & pedestrians. Remember: there’s a life on every bike. So, let’s all do our best to make sure everyone gets home safely ❤️ For tips on how to safely share the road: toronto.ca/WatchforBikes

@cityoftoronto many of these scooters and e-bikes don't have a bell or horn and pass you in a narrow bike lane without even letting you know verbally they're passing? Toronto is nothing like it was in 2000 when I moved here.. no respect of letting people walk both ways on sidewalks either

@cityoftoronto $400 to fix the bike and >$600 so far for physiotherapy, and still waiting to see my osteopath to get my head/neck assessed...Oy! Maybe I should have made him pay for my costs...

@cityoftoronto 4 weeks ago I was on my bike at night and got hit by a scooter going 40km/hr on the sidewalk with no lights on Carlton. I was turning into my condo and they t-boned me. young 20-something. Didn't charge him as it was late and I hope he learned his lesson. #Xray Tech w whiplash

If it takes gas, it's too fast for the bike lane💨 Rideables capable of speeds greater than 32 km/h, like mopeds, must stay on the road & out of bike lanes. Using a motorized vehicle on bike lanes or a multi-use path carries a fine. toronto.ca/Rideables

This is a long post, so if you don’t read it, I get it. Went to the ER yesterday… which as an ER nurse is never something I’d do lightly and I still feel guilty for having gone in for what I went for because… didn’t seem like anyone there heard me or gave a shit… and because I’m an ER nurse and promised myself I’d never go for the reason I went. Back story: I have a hx of migraines for which I am on a daily prophylactic medication and have a triptan for breakthrough pain. Typically, my migraines are few and far between, treatable with meds, and don’t last too terribly long and if they do last longer than normal, the pain is a low and non-debilitating. Let’s go back to Saturday between 03:00-05:00. Sudden onset of severe pain with pressure in my eyes that has made my vision seem… different? It’s also painful to look around. Changing positions between supine/sitting/standing is a fucking unpleasant rollercoaster. I figured maybe it was because I hadn’t slept, so I showered and went to bed. Woke up because of the pain, took some meds, drank some water, and was able to fall back asleep… Until the pain woke me up again a couple of hours later. My SO came to pick me up and take me home because I just needed to be around people that love me and that I love… and my dogs, obviously. Worst car ride possibly of my life. I felt every bump, every turn, every braking event. It almost felt like my brain was just bouncing and hitting my skull. Finally, we get home, headache is just as severe… I take more meds. Sunday, 07:33, after maaaaybe two or three hours of sleep, I wake up my SO and tell him that the headache woke me up again. We’ve been together for long enough that he knows when I say something doesn’t feel right, I mean it. He takes me in and lucky me, it’s not busy and I get to go straight back. The doctor comes and sees me, asks me what’s going on. Asked me about symptoms and I tell him what he already knows. “So, I have a hx of migraines (explain what they’re normally like) but this one is just different (I proceed to explain how this headache deviates from my normal migraine).” He asks me if I’ve been having fevers, I answer yes, and share that I’ve been on amox for a week for strep. He then asks if my neck hurts and I said mildly. He says, “I don’t think you have anything like a tumor, aneurysm, meningitis, or anything else like that. Let’s get you more comfortable and if we can’t, we’ll proceed from there.” Half an hour later, the nurse comes in with meds. I ask what she is giving me and she says “toradol and dilaudid.” This deviates very much from the migraine cocktail I’m used to administering. Meds are given and I learn I hate dilaudid. Doctor comes back after 20/30 minutes to ask how I feel. I tell him there’s been no change, and it’s not a lie. He said “well, let’s get you more meds.” My SO then says, “listen, you don’t know Casey… we wouldn’t be here if she wasn’t hurting.” He orders a CT, which “came back fine. We’ll get you going.” Nurse comes in, pulls my line, and I leave. I am prescribed fioricet and prednisone (?). Desperate to feel better, I take fioricet and guess fucking what? No change. Additionally, I reviewed my chart and the physician’s notes and guess what? It said “denies fevers”, “gradual onset of familiar headache yesterday but home meds are not adequately effective”, “presentation is a mild variation of her chronic headaches.” He also charts my head to toe assessment—without having actually assessed me. How did he know my pupils were equal, round, and reactive to light when all of the lights were off? Whatever, fuck it. 48-50 hours later and I feel the exact same and I’m over it. Also, listen to your fucking patients… this is exactly why some individuals feel how they feel about medicine/seeking medical care. I guess I’ll just see what happens because there’s no way I’m going back to be told it’s just a variation from my normal migraines. #medtwitter #nursetwitter

@MuellerSheWrote @TheBlondeRN Agreed! I wish I had an NP as my primary care provider… I’d be going into my IUD insertion today with a lot more trust and not having to pay an extra fee my MD is charging me…

@TheBlondeRN I specifically prefer NPs as my primary care provider. Been seeing the same one now for over a decade and I couldn’t be happier.

@TheBlondeRN The NP that I work most closely with in our family health team I tagteam to immunize infants and children. We both value each others previous experience before primary care and consult each other regularly! Teamwork rocks #PAsNPsRNsSWsRPhs&RDsRock!

@SieNoel @jtrebach @ the start if Covid we were doing 1-view CxRs in the back ER hallway, the chair the patient sat in, wasn’t high enough making the images lordotic, I admit, I stole a high backed chair from the 2nd floor, hid it behind the portable x-ray machine & labeled it do not remove! 🩻

@jtrebach Anytime someone is running with equipment in a hospital it's definitely because they just stole it from another unit and are trying to flee the scene of the crime: let them. This is the way of things.

Thank you Taddle Creek Family Health Team for meeting with me today at Queen's Park. Taddle Creek serves 20,000 patients in our community. We talked about the urgent need to protect our public health care system so clinics like theirs can continue to provide excellent care to all of its patients. #healthcare #onpli
