Iraqi-born security guard Mohammad Hassan Al Bayati was sentenced to 4.5 years in Australian jail for indecent assault against a child in Sydney.
He had responded to a "lost child" call, led the girl by the hand into a service corridor, and was off CCTV with her for 11 minutes.
The child later told her father "the man at shops want to kiss my bum bum."
Forensic testing returned a partial DNA match (1-in-750) on her underwear.
Al Bayati served more than two-and-a-half years in prison before he successfully appealed his conviction.
The appeal judges found that the DNA match could be explained by hand-holding, and that the original trial judge erred in improperly suggesting an indecent assault charge to prosecutors.

I’m not surprised that Mexicans allowed their 13 year old daughter to date an 18 year old man. Growing up, I saw a lot of the Mexican girls I was in middle school & in high school with dating, getting pregnant by, or even marrying older men. It’s a very normalized thing for them.

D4vd and Celeste Rivas reportedly met in 2022, when she was just 11 years old. According to prosecutors, their sexual relationship began in November 2023, when she was 13 and he was 18. Celeste’s family first reported her missing in February and April 2024 and Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies called D4vd after finding his number in Celeste’s phone records. Celeste then returned home two days later, and her parents took her phone. Prosecutors say D4vd got back in contact with Celeste by paying a student in her class $1,000 to deliver a cellphone he had purchased for her. Prosecutors say that throughout 2024, the two traveled together as a couple to Las Vegas, London, and Texas, where she met his family. There are numerous texts and explicit photographs from this period that make it clear they were having sex. (via TMZ)
