They found one tool I 'misplaced'- more interested in the 1/2" combo wrench I left somewhere else. Enclosure was destroyed and turned into a fishbowl, mast folded like a wet noodle. Will need a new enclosure, CR1000X, Baro, Mast, and charge controller. Everything else looks to have survived.

Excited to share the below news about a new weather station network on the highest mountain in the Americas. Argentine partners at @ianigla led by Pierre Pitte were exceptional. Excited to watch/analyze data! @TkrMatthews86 @MWObs @InsideNatGeo

@moaleck @EFisherWX @Mtnbiker15 Yep! And we wrote about this possibility in the NC Climate Report, among others topics such as TCs and mountain flooding and debris flows . . .

@EFisherWX @Mtnbiker15 Interesting! @BakerPerry1 and I use to chat about NWFS in a changing climate. Lots of thoughts regarding the role of teleconnections (NAO, AO, PNA, ENSO). But, I remember we also discussed if the great lakes remained unfrozen for more of the winter, could they lead to more NWFS?

Northwest flow (NWFS) accounts for roughly 50% of seasonal snowfall in the high elevations of WNC. For years, we've speculated that these events were becoming less common. I've identified NWFS events (2000-2023) using ERA5 data, and there does seem to be a decrease in frequency.

Huge numbers of trees down near Fall Creek VFD Station 1 in Old Beech Mtn, NC (Avery County) from #helene. Electric coop says 4-6 WEEKS for power restoration. Took 5 gallons of gas & 2 days just to clear this section. @VanDamCNN @wxbrad @NWSGSP @WataugaOnline @NCSCO

Now that I have Internet access, I thought I’d share a video or two of the height of the storm at 3800 feet in Roan Mountain, Tennessee Friday morning. We expected trees to come down at any moment, with rainfall rates of 2”/hr and wind gusts over 60 mph.
