Really surprised by the Aurora MK2, it seems like the Titan could be dethroned as the best starter for value and utility. I'm only upset for how existing aurora owners aren't given any special upgrade offer, paid or otherwise.

@Morphologis This is why in my mind it feels more like the VW Golf scenario again, as they discontinued each mark when the next one releases, instead of trying to retrofit things like catalytic converters etc into the old chassis. Appreciate your insight in any case mate 👍

@BeardedTea But it's not, the ship was built as a replacement since they they decided it would be easier to redo the design rather than trying to retrofit the older one. That's come with retiring the Mk1 from the store as a starter package.

@Morphologis Ok, I can understand where you’re coming from, and why you’d feel like that, but I personally still don’t see it as an issue tbh. It’s essentially a new ship, and not really even the same chassis. Be honest, if they called it the RSI Borealis, would you feel the same way?

The car comparison doesn’t really apply—this is a starter package, not a physical product. It’s your interface with the game. The Mk1 was built before many current systems existed, so it doesn’t support them well. The Mk2 effectively replaces it at the same price, but without a 1:1 upgrade path, early backers have to spend more just to reach the same starting point as new players. That’s why people are upset.

The game demands a degree of mastery and will repel most people trying to uncover its world and story. That’s going to sound counter intuitive and even foolish, but now with 160+hrs in Marathon I can say that it’s entirely the point. Every discovery matters. Every secret counts

Marathon’s world is brutal and does not want you to uncover its secrets. & that’s the point. Every aspect of the game is designed to tell you that you do not belong in this place. It asks you to claw its secrets from its cold dead hands. The difficulty is the ludonarrative.

@premosaysthings But there SHOULD be experiences in SC that have some industrial focus, and yes some even where there is no combat. I hope we get something similar wher the focus is solving the puzzle of getting the machinery working again. I like ice cream, and I want all flavours.

Not enjoying it. It's just convoluted. If you're into it great but I don't see casuals sticking with it. If this is the type of content coming then unfortunately I don't see how bungie "grows" the playerbase from where we are at.

@GamewithDave If you have an OLED monitor it can make some games look nicer, but on an LCD? LCDs have a certain amount of ghosting anyway, so it can make it look smeary by leaving it on
