@BeingSharp No? The British state is not secular or religionist? People of other faiths (and none) are entirely welcome to live here, but the nation is explicitly and legally christian.

‘A young Jewish woman was pressured by her CEO to accept being assigned a non-Jewish name at work, in the directory, email & office interactions to avoid offending clients. In Australia, where a trans person’s chosen gender & chosen name must be accepted to avoid offence. If I live to be 100 I will not get over today’s testimony.’ These are the words of one of our Australian followers in response to yesterday’s hearing of the Australian Royal Commission on Antisemitism. She adds, ‘I tried imagining the fallout if anyone had told India Willoughby that he had to use his male name. Then I realised I didn't have the brain capacity to hold the hypocrisy & insanity of both these things.’ One minority is expected to erase itself to avoid offence, while another is protected from offence by institutional force. That is a profound double standard. We say: antisemitism is not a burden for Jews to manage, but an entrenched conspiracy theory that society must confront.

For a host of reasons, Tisza needs to win the party vote, including the Hungarian nationals, by about 4% to have a shot at winning the 100 seats needed for a majority. Turnout is already the largest ever at 74% as of 5pm CET. Polls close at 1pm ET/7pm CET. 8/8

Here's a semi-brief overview of the Hungarian party and election system. Hungary has a 199-seat unicameral parliament. 106 members are selected in single-member districts as in the UK, US, and Canada - most votes wins. 1/x

J.D. Vance in April 2025: “I think a lot of European nations were right about our invasion of Iraq. Frankly, if the Europeans had been a little more independent, and a little more willing to stand up, then maybe we could have saved the entire world from the strategic disaster that was the American-led invasion of Iraq…I don’t want the Europeans to just do whatever the Americans tell them to do. I don’t think it’s in their interest, and I don’t think it’s in our interests, either.” unherd.com/2025/04/transc…

The Iranian people in huge numbers are asking us to "Be Our Voice." We must do far more to support fundamental rights in Iran. And the Iranian Regime must stop the arrests, detentions and executions. #WomanLifeFreedom

An African born in England is not English. They are still fucking African. 2026 is the year people will understand that being born here means NOTHING. We are an ETHNIC GROUP. You cannot deny the existence of English people. We exist, and we are going nowhere.

Targeting the IRGC is not an attack on Iran or its people—it’s quite literally the opposite. It’s targeting the very force that massacred 40,000 unarmed protestors just a few weeks ago. Iranians are celebrating the strikes to dismantle the Ayatollah’s killing machine.

@mikeflynn68 @LordAshcroft That’s healthy competition expanding the number of law firms there. The UAE has always been far more attractive tax-wise, that’s nothing new, but very few of the English lawyers their intend to stay permanently

@LordAshcroft Just got back from the middle east where I was, among other things, appointing a law firm for a major project. Several partners in large firms moaned to me about the level of competition due to the mass relocation of British lawyers to the UAE.

It's interesting to note that if Biden had deposed Maduro, all of those in the UK who are presently deriding Trump would have lauded the action as a virtuous intervention for “the Venezuelan people and for democracy”. But because it's Trump, well, it's got to be bad, if not evil.

Whatever Starmer has to say on Venezuela is irrelevant. No one cares. When Reagan invaded Grenada he told Mrs Thatcher beforehand - Starmer neither knew nor had a role in US decision making despite being the 'closest ally'. This diminution in global affairs is Starmer's legacy

@HMRCcustomers Question on training expenses if self-employed. I have a training course that I'm doing for my existing business, not a new business. If I complete it and do the assignments, I will get a diploma. I assume the diploma doesn't affect the normal deduction rules?

“The Liz Truss fiscal event…also seemed to undermine confidence in the economic benefits of the project [Brexit] with which the Conservative Party were associated.” Labour could turn around public opinion by having closer ties with the EU, says Sir John Curtice.

"Maybe they're speaking Gaelic, pal, think of that?" 92.6% of people in Scotland only spoke English in the home in 2011. 1.1% of adults spoke Scots. 0.5% spoke Gaelic. Cut the smarmy (false) gotchas - not speaking English natively is a *huge* educational disadvantage.
Reform UK@reformparty_uk

Nearly 1 in 3 schoolchildren in Glasgow do not speak English as their first language. This is not diversity. This is culture smashing. Reform UK will make this a big issue in our campaign. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
