I’m not sure this engages with the response. I’m saying that public opinion matters much less for the laws we have than we may think. As an example: For several decades, the vast majority of Americans opposed so-called same-sex marriage. But because a very small and very vocal minority of activists were politically activated, they were remarkably successful in changing the laws and moving the culture in their direction as a result. Christians should want the public to agree with us. But that doesn’t matter nearly as much as our ability to mobilize politically.

@BenZeisloft I agree we should advocate for moral laws. The political possibilities are limited under democratic mechanisms without broad approval. Doesn't mean we should stop. But, it does mean we should recognize where we are likely to have immediate success and where we are not.

I don’t think that’s the takeaway at all. There are many popular things that are not law. There are many unpopular things that are law. What matters in politics is whether the supporters or opponents of those things can muster political power. This doesn’t necessarily correlate with the opinions of a simple majority of the population, most of whom don’t care and don’t even vote when it matters.

Wood says abortion was "protected by federal law" for fifty years. It was not. It was imposed by judicial fiat. No legislature voted for it. No democratic process ratified it. Wood uses the repeated "criminalizing women" canard. Herames this as targeting women - it targets murder. Brother, know the difference. "Before we criminalize, we should demagnetize." This is a sentence no one has ever spoken about any other form of homicide. The abolitionist sentiment is growing. The pro-life groups who refuse to abolish abortion are meanwhile losing credibility.

Only 9% of Americans believe IVF is wrong. Christians have a lot of work ahead of us on that issue, especially considering how much cheaper and more accessible IVF is becoming.

The American founding was a Protestant founding. This is historically indisputable.

Abortion is the root sin. Foreign invasion is the judgment. Christians must oppose both.

There was a time when i would call psychics who would leave drop cards around the city and evangelize them. I wonder about that sometimes.

Christians are noticing that pro-life leaders oppose bills that would truly abolish abortion.

This is not to say that the woman is the sole party responsible in most abortions, but that pro-life groups overlook babies, who are the actual victims of abortion, in favor of the women who willfully murder those babies.

Many pro-life groups meanwhile say… “What terrifies me is if women were to have abortions and murder 70 million babies. Imagine the backlash against women who have abortions?”

@LARighttoLife Your organization supports keeping abortion legal for women. If you want to help women avoid the pain of abortion, then support laws that deter them from having abortions in the first place.

Abortion is NOT freedom. For nearly half of women, it leaves behind immense pain. Not just in the moment, but in memories, dreams, and the silent grief that lingers.
