Excellent explainer to the @WSC_shipping GBM which has been put fwd at @IMOHQ MEPC! We need an ambitious MBM adopted by 2025 and here’s our proposal, simple, proportionate and closing the price gap from day 1

@GuiLeGrand @FaigAbbasov Merci Guillaume. Penser qu’un secteur peut decarboner qu’ en ralentissant tient plus largement de l’imaginaire. IMO a enfin mis en marche le travail sur les mécanismes de marché GHG. Se détourner de ce travail maintenant est pour moi irresponsable.

@FaigAbbasov NZE calls for 15% reduction on 2022 basis to stay 1,5 aligned. So I still think it is relevant also in light of revised IMO targets. And there is quite a gap between 15&40. TBH I fail to understand the goal of T&E’s IMO strategy, contents and timing wise. But again that’s just me

@Bergcube i think you are avoiding my question, Simon, perhaps inadvertently :) IEA analysis you referred to does not analyse fuel uptake to meet the IMO's 2030 target. Their NZE is not aligned with the revised IMO strategy;

@FaigAbbasov 40% of green fuels to reach a 30% target is not something we can recognize at all in terms of calculations. This year alone we secured a 500k agreement for green methanol. 1. issue is no longer fuel availability but closing the price gap. But some MS will💕your maths 4sure.

@Bergcube @Bergcube we recommend IMO to deliver at least 10% zero GHG fuels by 2030. But maths shows that to deliver - 30% IMO GHG target, closer to 40% green fuel uptake is needed in the next 6 years = unrealistic. How else to meet the target then if not wz additional energy efficiency?

@MagnusBarsoe to store transport former er dybt afhængig af brintproduktion i større kvantiteter. Grøn metanol og ammoniak produceres med H2 som feedstock. Maersk alene har brug for 5 millioner tons grønt metanol inden 2030. Men H2 skal ikke bruges hvor direkt elektrificering er løsningen.

Nerd alert: Jeg ved sgu ikke med det her ekstremt hypede ptx og brinteventyr, vi kaster penge efter. Hvem skal aftage al den brint..? Her er fx en analyse fra McKinsey fra 2022 om markedet for brint. Men elektrificering og batterier har allerede sejret på 2-3 områder siden. Gør mig gerne klogere, please.

Eksperten @beach_methodman siger partierne ikke stiller med deres stærkeste kort. Det må så være fordi “kendis faktor” og “stærkeste kort” er det samme. På erfaring, indflydelse, indsigt er jeg klart @Spolitik stærkeste kort. Ville være dejligt hvis Altinget droppede den dovne “de er ikke kendte” journalistisk, og brugte deres viden om EU til at gøre danskerne klogere. PS jeg hedder Christel, ikke Christen. @RiaEU #eudk
