If Republicans really cared about voter IDs they would pay for those IDs and help people get them. But they don't really care. It is proven to be a voter suppression tactic.

It’s literally illegal to put up financial barriers to vote — that’s a poll tax, and it’s prohibited by the 24th Amendment of the Constitution. I know the Constitution doesn’t mean much to conservatives these days, but it’s still the law. When obtaining the proper ID is free and widely accessible to US citizens, then we can talk about voter ID laws.

I’m not opposed to voter ID as long as IDs are free, which they are not so the SAVE act is unconstitutional and clearly meant to stifle poor people from voting.
