I wonder if the weather had anything to do with this. Big snowstorm made travel difficult for a week or so. But obviously it would not be the only factor. Other factors could be more cameras etc (but this would probably have been seen sooner?), National guard (but aren’t they mainly in downtown near the mall?).

As a longtime former resident, I don't mean to be overly sanguine about this. But based on year-over-year percentages, DC is on pace for just 49 murders in 2026. That would be at least the lowest since 1960, but maybe the lowest since the Civil War. mpdc.dc.gov/dailycrime

YES!!! If you want to solve the housing cost problem, there are TENS OF THOUSANDS OF LANDLORDS all across this country (I am one) who will readily sell our investment property if we don’t have to give 30% of our gain (which is little more than compounded inflation) to the govt.
