It's amazing how Trump doesn't understand the first thing about international trade. The US has a trade deficit with us because it buys a lot of raw materials from us - oil, steel, potash etc - all things that make business flourish. We can sell our oil and potash to China then. We'll lose a few dollars with the transport, but we'll adjust. Everyone wants to trade with Canada. We have an overabundance of raw materials and we're fairly useless at manufacturing anything at home. Any relationship where you import raw materials and export finished goods is highly desirous.
