Yesterday in Isiro, the Judicial Police and the Ministry of Environment, under the authority of @IccnRdc with technical & financial support from @ConservC @Amini16 , arrested great ape traffickers and rescued 2 chimpanzees. The zone is problematic in primates trafficking!

@ConservC has been officially vetted and certified for transparency and compliance with international anti-fraud standards. A strong step forward for trust, accountability, and conservation impact in Africa. @Amini16 @IccnRdc @IFAW @IPPLprimate @Caf @StateINL

On 5 Dec, the Police Judiciaire in Lubumbashi, with support from @ConservC & @IccnRdc , arrested 2 traffickers with 50 kg of ivory smuggled from Zambia. This comes just after COP20, where CITES rejected attempts to legalize ivory trade. A cross-border network has been exposed.

A big win #CITESCoP20: the golden-bellied mangabey has been uplisted to Appendix I. For us at @ConservC , it’s protection for a species we rescue from traffickers far too often. Now we need the infrastructure to match the commitment @Amini16 @IFAWUK @pasaprimates @Primatesnft

Pangolin traffickers in DRC are using electrical testers on live pangolins, claiming the light means “spiritual power.” In truth, it’s science -all living beings conduct small electric currents. This myth is fueling poaching & trafficking. @IccnRdc @PangolinSG @SavePangolins

Since 2023, Conserv Congo tracked a network between Butembo & Beni (DRC). A trafficker was found with ~50kg ivory (~$6,750). Arrest made by @Ugandawildlife with @ConservC & @IFAW support @IccnRdc @Amini16 @ElephantCrisis @StateINL

Another baby #bonobo rescued from a poacher in Ikela, #Tshuapa - the 3rd in 60 days.

A bonobo was rescued from a snare in Ikela, Tshuapa . But poaching & trafficking in Tshuapa & Sankuru are escalating fast. Bonobos aren’t just great apes-they are guardians of the forests. The forests they protect give us oxygen & life. @IccnRdc @Amini16
