Yeah theoretically. Like isn't peace just the space enclosed by a circle of violence, isn't the world order upheld by a bunch of countries pointing nuclear weapons at each other. Maybe it was always Khan against Khan. But there used to be a moral posture. Now "no more stupid rules of engagement."

This is the core debate though, isnt it? What does it mean to be moral? Is allowing something bad to happen due to weakness also sin? I would say yes. But as things are now, we are building saw traps for how we fight wars. Which is quite an odd way to to treat war and probably bad for everyone.

It’s a cyclical trend. There was a peak in the late 2010s where everyone needed to be constantly signaling in-group minutiae on everything feminist/anti-racist/trans (I remember demands for pronouns not just in bio but in username lol). Then in 2020 everyone decided influencers posting a black square on instagram for BLM is useless and narcissistic and cringe. Five years later, the trend was back but now it’s geopolitical.

@ContraPoints There is something uplifting about moving on from this era of purity checking by the mob where you must have an opinion on every single issue instead of ones that matter in the context a person/situation is in.
