@JamieFranklin40 Thank you for having taken the time to pen it, Father! Some great food for thought. (I sponsored a young guy at Easter who was coming in from a Protestant background- he basically echoed your points: reverence, rootedness, and tradition which flies in the face of modern fads.)

@BruvverEccles @Pontifex Yes. Perhaps he could pop over to Nigeria and see how our Christian brethren are doing there, or enquire with our Orthodox friends fared under the Ottomans.

@phillipsc Things are starting to make sense… I got dragged to Peppa Pig World twice when my kids were younger. The show’s theme tune was blasting out over the speakers on a loop. Took me weeks to stop humming it 😬

President Trump is 100% right about the Pope. I’m a Catholic but I’m an American first. The Pope has decided he will use his mandate to attack Trump basically ad nauseam. He doesn’t do that with other world leaders. It’s Trump hate on repeat. The Pope is NOT infallible on matters of politics and frankly he should shut up about them when it’s just the same old liberal talking points on repeat. We get you’re a pussy-hat wearer, Leo, we get it. Now, please. Focus on uniting the church.

@Antunes1 There were other men who I thought would make excellent popes. There are things Pope Leo has said that I may not understand. There are things he has done which I cannot fathom. But when all is said & done, he is the Holy Father & the Vicar of Christ, & he leads God’s Church 🙏🏻

Have patience with all things- but first with yourself. Never confuse your mistakes with your value as a human being. You’re a perfectly valuable, creative, worthwhile person simply because you exist. No amount of triumphs or tribulations can ever change that. St Francis de Sales

“A truly humble man has no desire to be known or admired by others, but wishes to plunge from himself into himself, to become nothing, as if he had never been born. When he is completely hidden to himself in himself, he is completely with God.” ~ St Isaac of Nineveh

There’s a lady at my church (and her husband). I’m asking for prayers for them. I spoke with her last week for several minutes. This couple had gone to Rome with us last year on a Pilgrimage, just a few days after Pope Francis had died. So I brought it up in conversation with her. It was only 1.5 years ago, but the memories had already gone. You see, she has dementia. I knew she had dementia of course. It’s not a secret. I had sat with her while her husband went off to the restroom and she was a bit anxious not knowing where he was. I sat her down, facing the doorway, telling her just to watch, he will be returning at any moment - and it calmed her down. And he returned, and all was well. She knows she has dementia, too. She will say it: I’m sorry, I can’t remember, I have dementia. It’s really enough to make you cry. Two things: Please, pray for her, and her husband. They’re very very good Catholics & people. Secondly. If you’re anxious, keep looking for Jesus. He may not come thru the door physically like her husband did, but He is here for you, in all ways, if you just look. Take comfort in Him. Find solace in the fact He will never leave you. Thanks for reading. And if you have a member of your family who is suffering from dementia, just drop a note below, I will add them to my prayers🙏🏻

I just want to say a massive THANK YOU to people in other Countries - especially the U.S., the UK, and Canada - who are standing with the Irish people as we take on our tyrannical Government. It means so much that you are supporting us right now. We love all of you so much! 💚

This is the priest who died on the Titanic to hear confessions and administer last rites. Given the opportunity to board a lifeboat on two separate occasions, Father Thomas Byles firmly declined. He chose instead to stay behind, absolving sins and consoling the doomed passengers. Following the vessel's collision with the iceberg, he assembled the remaining crowds on the aft deck. Those who lived through the disaster recalled him standing bravely amid the panic, listening to confessions, granting collective absolution, and reciting the Rosary right up until the ocean claimed the stern. This is the type of story we should elevate, heroic virtue. May the Lord bless us with more holy men possessing the courage of Father Thomas Byles.

In the understanding of the Church, sorrow is not replaced by joy; it is transformed into joy. This distinction indicates that it is precisely within death that Christ continues to effect triumph. —Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann, Great and Holy Saturday
