What happens if an AD Bill supporter comes top of the PMB ballot (w no additional time provided) at the next session? Does the bill have to go through the Lords again? ⁦@HansardSociety⁩ Starmer unlikely to allocate more time for assisted dying bill theguardian.com/society/2026/m…

@JamillaHussain1 @HansardSociety If the Commons passes the bill, it will go through the Lords again. However, if the bill is identical to the one passed this session, and the Lords once again fails to pass it, it can become law without the agreement of the Lords.

57 years ago today abortion became legal - to be used only in extremity. Since 1967 the lives of 10,605,611 unborn babies have been ended — 1 British baby lost to abortion every 2 minutes; 31 lives are ended every hour. Both Lives Matters. Choose Life: youtu.be/-7qYeZcOioI?si…

Tonight peers vote on abortion: a social justice issue. In one ward, doctors fight to save a baby. In another, they kill a baby. The difference, very often, comes down to which baby is wanted or can be afforded. Where is the equality? Where is the fairness? 1/2

Archbishop of Canterbury sets off on a pilgrimage to Canterbury today The deliberately not-too-specific route map from Lambeth Palace is quite something Looks like a medieval map of an uncharted region that should have "here be dragons" on it 🐉 Fabulously abstract waterways

I note my own comment that this would be an important act of Christian witness, which would deserve to make headlines. 'Archbishop interrupts pilgrimage to vote against abortion up to birth'.
Adrian Hilton@Adrian_Hilton

I hope all of those (especially journalists) who criticised the Archbishop of Canterbury for ‘arranging’ (she didn't) this ‘convenient’ (it wasn't) diary conflict (unforeseen) will now repost the confirmation that (laudably) she will be interrupting her pilgrimage to vote.

I’m not someone who often praises the NHS unreservedly… But I do want to say a genuine thank you to the team at St Thomas’ Hospital after a scare with my eye yesterday. Having nearly lost my sight in my left eye back in October last year I’m very cautious about any changes. So waking up yesterday in pain and with a small haemorrhage in the same eye was pretty frightening. After calling up, the hospital managed to get me seen by a specialist within an hour which was pretty incredible. They quickly assessed the haemorrhage, gave me the correct treatment and were able to send me on my way back to work. I know that not everyone’s experience with the NHS is like this but when things work well it’s important to say so!!

@phillipsc @Rgt71Robert @fathergarlick Lol. With all those London clergy walking around with Canonries from overseas, you will be no worse making one up. Canon of Our Lady of Willesden. Nice blue piping and a blue fascia. Nice

@extrasalt513 It is entirely possible to be friends with people you don’t agree with. I got on well with Archbishop Sarah when I was on her Bishop’s Council.

The characterization of Sarah Mullally as a radical progressive by some conservative Anglicans is incorrect in my view. She supports same-sex blessings but isn't aggressively pushing gay marriage, she's a female bishop but is friendly with traditionalist Anglo-Catholics.

@2D0XPS I’m happy to offer to produce some material for Charles, King and Martyr. A nice litany, perhaps. Maybe call it a Carol(us) Service?
