Under the Rwanda Digital Acceleration Project, @RISARwanda and NCSA have concluded the second cohort of the #cybersecurity training program for 100 judicial operators in #Rwanda, held at CyberHub Rwanda and HangaHub Muhanga. This program reinforces efforts to strengthen national capacity to effectively address cyber-related cases, through targeted and comprehensive skills development in key areas of cybersecurity and digital investigations.

Today, NCSA joined UGHE’s Lunch & Learn program to deliver an awareness session on Rwanda’s Personal Data Protection and Privacy Law. Over 70 faculty members specializing in healthcare education engaged in discussions on the importance of data protection—particularly in the health sector, where sensitive personal data is routinely processed. Key topics included: - The role and duties of @DPORwanda - Responsibilities of Data Protection Officers - Categories of sensitive personal data - Lawful bases for processing personal data The session concluded with a Q&A on compliance in health facilities and research projects, underscoring the critical need to safeguard personal data in Rwanda’s healthcare sector.

Today, we brought together nearly 200 participants from diverse organizations for an engaging webinar on the duties of Data Protection Officers (DPOs) under Rwanda’s Law relating to the protection of personal data and privacy. We emphasized that from advising on compliance and monitoring practices, to guiding impact assessments and cooperating with the supervisory authority, the role of the DPO is central to building and sustaining a strong privacy culture. #PrivacyMatters

Participants including judges, prosecutors, investigators, and lawyers strengthened their capacity in handling cybercrime investigations, digital evidence management, and digital forensics, among other key topics essential for addressing cyber-related cases.

At the panel on “Securing the Global Payments Highway: Cybersecurity for Real-Time Cross-Border Transactions” during #IFF2026, NCSA Chief Cybersecurity Standards Officer Ghislaine Kayigi emphasized that collaboration and skills development are critical to securing digital payment ecosystems. She highlighted NCSA’s close collaboration with the Central Bank and financial sector institutions to strengthen cybersecurity posture across the sector and ensure effective coordination, timely information sharing and response to cyber threats. She also addressed the growing global cybersecurity skills gap, sharing that NCSA launched the CyberHub, a Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, to help develop highly skilled talent in cybersecurity, support regional demand, and contribute to growing an African cybersecurity ecosystem.

The session explored the evolution of technology and its role in Rwanda’s development, cybersecurity awareness for public figures, and how technology can promote national unity and address misinformation. The workshop is part of Rwanda’s ongoing efforts to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusivity.
