@skitzotard @swisschocoo BBC has reported things wrong on the Palestinian struggle and had to issue apologies over it too. The only way I knew said things were false and how bad it is in Gaza was thanks to social media, and kids are being denied that completely.

Social media isn’t good for teenagers. It isn’t even good for adults. Banning social media isn’t necessarily the answer but it certainly provides a boundary. As someone who works in education and sees firsthand the issues social media causes, I’m an advocate for this ban

@YOULIKEMYPACE @316simsim Crazy how this ban is happening for parents who are unable to protect their kids online yet no one cares about kids with limited access to opportunity. My town centre is a shithole mate and there was a stabbing in the park two weeks ago. I wouldn't send a child to those places.

@DS__LFC__ @316simsim Isn’t that only for online play? Not for playing FIFA with matches at your house For sports you can sign up to teams and there’s plenty of open fields to play with mates. Socialise with friends at town centres, malls or just at your houses.

No child needs to be on social media, the damage it does far outweighs the benefits of them having it, find it odd that anybody would be against a ban and want their child on these platforms, the government and these platforms have a responsibility to protect children.

🚨 SUMMARY: The UK's social media ban for children from early 2027: - "User-to-user" apps where people create, share and interact with content (e.g. TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, X, Facebook) will be banned for under-16s - WhatsApp, Signal and YouTube Kids will be exempt - Under-16s will also be banned from livestreaming, messaging strangers on gaming apps like Discord and using disappearing messages - 16 and 17 year olds will face nightly social media curfews and limits on infinite scrolling with more details next month - AI "romantic companion" chatbots will be banned for under-18s - Adults can still access social media through age checks like facial recognition, digital IDs, passports and credit cards
